The crown jewel of South Africa’s National Parks and one of the largest National Parks in Africa, the Kruger National Park covers almost 20,000km2 of diverse habitat. Located in the North West of South Africa in the province of Mpumalanga it covers an area roughly the size of Israel pre-1967 or the country of Wales.
A self-contained ecosystem encompassing diverse habitats and biomes, Kruger is home to 147 species of mammals, 507 recorded bird species, 114 species of reptiles, 34 species of amphibians, 34 species of fish and 336 species of trees.
As well as the ‘Big Five’ – Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo – Kruger is home to several other carnivores including Cheetah, Hyena and African Wild Dog, as well as numerous antelope.
